Transhumance is an ancient tradition of the Serra da Estrela that takes place at the start of summer, following the rhythm of the seasons as herds are driven up to the upper plateau of the Serra da Estrela in search of the best pastures. More than just a pastoral practice, it represents a deep connection between people, nature, and the land. At Burel Factory, this heritage inspires us daily and is present in every stage of wool processing, preserving knowledge, stories, and the identity of the mountain.
