Churra Cushion

100% Churra wool cushion cover.

Produced in Serra da Estrela, Portugal.

The wool for this piece came from shearing a small flock of Churra sheep. These sheep live free at Quinta do Nuno and Julieta in Miguel Choco, a mountain village. They are the happiest sheep in Serra da Estrela, a factor that is reflected in the quality of the Churra wool used. A heritage with a future

Churra sheep are native to the Serra da Estrela. A protected breed due to the risk of extinction, which we value by shaping the wool they offer us every year, enhancing it through unique, high-quality creations, while promoting the lifestyle of those who look after them, the shepherds and the people who contribute to the happiness of this mountain and all of us.

Handmade heritage

Burel Factory promotes the mastery of Serra da Estrela's knowledge, art made by multiple hands that warp, card, spin and weave in ancestral machines that have been heard since the 19th century.

Local and sustainable wool

Wool from local sheep, who graze happily outdoors on the upper plateaus of the Mountain.

Quality and comfort

The versatility of the burel and its endurance ensure it multiplicity of applications. It resists traction, breakage, pressure and exposure to light, supporting intensive use without change in color and shape. Quality combined with the comfort of pure wool.
