History and Innovation

Burel is a historical fabric present in Portugal since the 11th Century, now used in an innovative way in fashion, design, art and architecture.

Conscious and Sustainable

Burel is a 100% wool fabric, handmade and conscious in ancestral looms, by masters who have kept the art of working wool for generations. The wool is local and comes from happy sheep grazing outdoors in the mountains.

Handmade in Portugal

The Burel Factory is proud to produce only in Portugal, from the parts it produces at the Serra da Estrela factory, to suppliers who share the handmade artisanal production methods.
